Home Improvement Projects

One of my many hobbies is working on small to medium sized home improvments projects.  I enjoy these projects because the results are immediate, tangible, and can usually be enjoyed by the whole family. 

Outdoor Kitchen Project

Although all of the projects that I undertake could be hired out, I find that the quality of work I do is generally better than that of contracted professionals.  I know that many professionals have the ability to match my quality of work, but it would take far too much time and they would either go broke or have to charge so much that I couldn't afford them anyway.  So I do it myself, take my time, and in the end I have a finished product that I am proud of with a significant cost savings (if I don't count the cost of my time).

There are dozens of completed projects around our house that I could discuss, but because I would rather be working a project rather than writing about it, I have chosen to include just a handfull of my projects. I tried to pick a variety of projects in terms of both size and complexity.

Included on the page for each project are pictures, often taken at various stages of completion.  There are additional pictures of some of the projects in the home improvement projects gallery of our SmugMug site.  If you enjoy doing similar projects, hopefully you will find some ideas and inspiration here.
