Mechanical Music Links
Below are just a few of my favorite sites related to Mechanical Music. Rather than try and provide a comprehensive list of sites and maintain it, I refer you to the more complete links page at Mechanical Music Digest.
Organizations
Automatic Musical Instrument Collectors’ Assn. (AMICA) – An educational, non-profit, membership organization that promotes the appreciation of historic automatic musical instruments. A great place to start if you are new to Mechanical Music.
Music Box Society International (MSBI) – An educational, non-profit, membership organization dedicated to all types of Mechanical Music, not just music boxes. The site includes interesting information for members and non-members alike. An online article archive dating back to the 1950s and lending library are available to members.
The Pianola Institute - A membership organization in the UK that strives to bring about a better understanding and appreciation of the Player Piano in a number of ways. The Institute publishes an annual journal and presents regular concerts.
Forums
Mechanical Music Digest (MMD) – This non-commercial site is full of great information and they have archived message postings that function much the same as a forum.
Music Rolls
eBay – A great resource for finding and purchasing vintage and recut music rolls for almost any instrument. Rolls are always available for common instruments. If you are looking for the more rare, create a custom search and eBay will email you when an item fitting your description comes up for auction.
